Conversation is one of our most powerful tools in the fight against period poverty and menstrual stigma. Recently, TESMI hosted the #BleedWithDignity Period Story Competition, inviting young people to reclaim the narrative around menstruation through creative writing and personal storytelling.

The response was inspiring. We received entries spanning poetry, personal essays, and short stories, each offering a raw, honest look at what it means to menstruate in today’s society. Students opened up about the challenges of period poverty, the awkwardness of early experiences, and the triumph of self-acceptance.

By amplifying these voices, the event succeeded in turning taboo into dialogue and shame into solidarity.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible participants, judges, and supporters who made this event a resounding success.

Together, we are building a world where no one feels hidden or embarrassed simply because they bleed.
